SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER

Position Summary:  The Supply Chain Manager has responsibility for managing the cost and availability of Operations material through successful procurement, materials planning, stocking/signal strategy, and commodity management for the Production floor. Strategies and performance metrics focus on timely support, development, and implementation of Lean Processes. Efficient operation of Receiving and the main warehouse is also under the management of the Supply Chain Manager. Measures of success include Sourcing Savings, product OTD, supplier OTD, inventory turns, Inventory Accuracy, and material demand planning. Efficient integration of MRP, Lean capacity forecasting, and supplier savings strategies is expected in this position. This position is required to be skilled and highly active in the hands-on placing of Purchase Orders while also being responsible for the Supply Chain group achieving business strategy goals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage Production demand requirements to ensure uninterrupted flow of materials and services using MRP, Pull Indicators, and master planning.
  • Possess a high enthusiasm for direct, hands-on purchasing, and a demonstrated history of improving value while reducing costs.
  • Develop, implement, and negotiate price and delivery terms with suppliers to minimize material cost, inventory levels, and transportation costs while supporting Production demand requirements.
  • Analyze, measure, and report purchasing effectiveness in order to take timely action on corrections needed to maintain savings, on-time delivery, and quality.
  • Oversee the activities of the Supermarket and Receiving personnel.
  • Manage the daily cycle count program and take measures to maintain inventory accuracy above 99%.  
  • Ensure the mitigation of material shortages and/or planning work order delays through direct involvement with the Production Floor and Suppliers.
  • Manage and instruct department personnel on meeting company requirements of performance, operating budget, and process development.
  • Experience with Low Cost Region Sourcing.

 

General Education and Background Requirements:

  • BA/BS with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing a Supply Chain Group in a Lean, (kanban, demand pull, point of use, etc) machining manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with ERP/MRP system.
  • Excellent communication, computer, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and to provide guidance and mentoring to peers.
  • International procurement experience required.
  • CPM or APICS certification a Plus.
